Your engagement session guide

How to choose a location, what to bring, and how to feel at ease in front of the camera.

Your engagement session is a chance to get comfortable with us before the wedding, and to get photos you'll actually want on your walls.

Choosing a location

Pick somewhere that feels like you two: the beach where you had your first date, a favorite downtown street, a quiet park. Locally we love First Landing, Ghent and the Norfolk Botanical Garden.

What to bring

  • Two outfits: one dressier, one relaxed
  • A blanket, a bottle of champagne, or your dog
  • Lip balm, a comb, and comfortable shoes for walking between spots

Feeling natural

You don't need to know how to pose. We'll give simple prompts (walk, whisper, slow dance) and photograph what happens in between. Most couples tell us they forgot the camera was there after ten minutes.

Afterward

Your gallery arrives in 3–5 business days, ready for save-the-dates and your guest book.
