The ideal wedding day photo timeline
A sample schedule for 8 hours of coverage, with buffers built in.

Every wedding is different, but this is the rhythm that gives us the most relaxed day and the strongest gallery. Times assume a 4:30 pm ceremony.
Sample timeline
- 12:30 pm: details (rings, invitations, shoes, florals)
- 1:00 pm: getting ready, final touches, getting into the dress
- 2:15 pm: first look and couple portraits
- 2:45 pm: wedding party photos
- 3:30 pm: family formals (if you're doing a first look)
- 4:00 pm: everyone tucked away, guests arriving
- 4:30 pm: ceremony
- 5:00 pm: remaining family photos, then cocktail hour
- 6:00 pm: reception entrance, first dance, toasts
- 6:45 pm: golden-hour portraits (about 20 minutes)
- 7:30 pm: cake, parent dances, open dancing
- 8:30 pm: send-off
Tips that save the day
- Add 15 minutes of buffer before the first look; hair and makeup almost always run over
- Send us your family formal list ahead of time, and name one relative who knows everyone
- Keep the getting-ready room tidy and well lit
